WORK HISTORY

Prior to 1994 (in CANADA)

Instructor, community college           1991 - 1993

  • Taught physics, math, English and General Science to Continuing Education students. Lectures, individual consultations, development of teaching materials and lesson plans.

Radio station researcher                    1990 - 1991

  • Library research for a radio station, mostly on environmental/social issues. Some general production: script writing, editing tapes, conducting interviews etc.

Research assistant, biology lab         1985 - 1988

  • A project on the biochemistry of marine algae. Gained extensive practical familiarity with a wide range of laboratory, analytical and research techniques (e.g. culture maintenance, chromatography, UV-spectrophotometry). A new substance of importance to algal osmoregulation was identified.

Biographical sketch

  • Born in Moscow, Russia, in 1964. Relocated to Canada in 1981. Attended the University of Western Ontario. Studies biology and  philosophy. In 1994 moved back to Moscow and established myself as a freelance translator and consultant in the language, information, and communication field. Since 1994 did English teaching and immigration interview preparation for the clients of Genesis Consulting (Toronto, Canada), and in 1998 became their authorized representative in Russia. Other major clients include FYI Information Resources, Hewlett-Packard,  DuPont, SAIC GT, Russian Aluminium, Metals-Russia.com and many others. Between 1992 and 2005 actively maintained sites on budget Russian travel (eg. www.cheap-moscow.com)  and rural tourism (www.staritsa.info or www.russian-horse-rides.com). Presently, based on years of experience, re-orienting my outfit towards business clients or private individuals with business needs, as opposed to leisure travelers. Most of the old projects are still active under someone else's management, eg. www.russiangirlfriday.com or www.marisha.net. Divorced, unattached.
